Central Jersey Man Arrested With 100,000 Child Pornography Images, Prosecutor Says

Eight residents of Middlesex County have been arrested on child pornography charges, authorities, including one man who possessed 100,000 illegal images.

Presently, the investigations appear to be unrelated and the suspects do not know each other, authorities said.

On Thursday, police officers from the East Brunswick, Edison, Highland Park, Monroe, New Brunswick, North Brunswick, Perth Amboy and Sayreville Police Departments along with detectives from the New Jersey State Police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office made warranted searches at six homes countywide, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.

The following suspects were arrested on various child pornography charges, according to Ciccone: 

  • Dingren Nie, 27, of Edison, who also had about 100,000 images depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of children;
  • Hongpeng Zheng, 24, of New Brunswick; 
  • Ali Armas-Iriarte, 58, of Highland Park;
  • Jeff Caramella, 21, of the Parlin section of Sayreville;
  • James Walden, 50, of North Brunswick; 
  • A juvenile, 17, of Monroe;
  • Kenneth Godfrey, 41, of Woodbridge was arrested on May 6; and
  • A juvenile, 14, of Edison was charged on May 10

Nie is being held at the Middlesex Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court. 

The other seven suspects were being held pending their initial appearances in Superior Court on Friday afternoon.
